CONTENT CREATION FOR SEO SUCCESS
(SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISAtION)

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

“I have already invested a lot of my marketing budget in developing a website and blog, and it isn’t showing up in any organic google searches… How do I make my website more google-friendly?”

What do you do? Do you give up in despair? Do you start looking for an SEO ‘expert’ and invest even more money (that you really don’t have the funds for?)

“Getting your website listed in the major search engines is an absolute necessity. Why? Because 85% of all people on the Internet use them when searching for information. When they type the keyword or keyword phrase in a major search engine, up pops your website, or at least you hope so!”

Even with social media rapidly rivalling search engines as the most popular search method for your particular services, you can reach your target market through either platforms using these strategies.

One of the easiest ways to get listed in any of the major search engines is getting links from other related sites that point to your site. The theory being once you get your website listed in one major search engine or directory, your site will soon appear in the others. But how do you get these back links? The best way to get noticed by other websites that rank well, is by providing great information and content. This is known as content marketing. Although it’s not the quickest means of increasing exposure, it is a sure-fire way to build credibility and be shared around social media circles by a target market is who seeking out this type of information. We live in an age where people are demanding more and more knowledge, so why not give them what they want!

With content marketing, it’s definitely quality beats quantity. You must keep it fresh, interesting, original and key-word rich, so that it will excite Google because of its regularity, and be relevant to your target market. You can do this by writing articles, updating your blog posts, keeping your general text pages up to date with up to the minute information, having an events and media page, and our favourite… creating and sharing video marketing on your website.

The more social media streams that you have back-linking to your site the better. Every time you update your pages, promote it through your preferred social media channels, create a short video speaking about the content, and then post it on your YouTube channel. Video is one of the best ways to engage with your audience, create a connection, and Google knowingly favours YouTube video – which is consequently the second highest search engine in the world behind Google, so having a link to that site will only further enhance your SEO.

You can also send out a regular e-newsletter to your database letting them know about the fresh, new information on your website. Stay up to date with marketing trends in your industry. Share customer success stories and testimonials. Provide as much evidence to your target audience that you are the number one choice in your industry. When you are speaking about your clients so highly, it’s easy to encourage them to also share your content and information on their social media platforms.

“Make it as easy as possible for people to share your message to get maximum results. Every touchpoint with people visiting your website to view or share your content is another positive step for your organic SEO.”

Above all, keep your copy relevant and ever-changing for your target market, as the quality of what you are saying will keep people coming back for more and referring your information to others. Include social media sharing buttons so it can be readily shared.

Essentials of great copy include:

  • Strong calls to action
  • Descriptive and emotive language that influences your prospect to buy – talk to their pain points and be the solution
  • Create trust with credibility that influences a prospect to choose you over your competition such as facts, testimonials, figures and quotes by others
  • Drives them to ‘act’ in the moment and opt-in immediately

Most importantly, the more activity on your website and the social media channels supporting it, the higher in value Google will rank you and before you know it, you will be steadily growing in the search engine rankings without having to pay out large sums of precious marketing dollars to others to do your SEO. It’s not the mystery that SEO experts would have you believe, great quality content on a well-built website will win in Google rankings every time. It’s about having a strategic plan in content creation, and then actioning it.

    1. Well thank you very much, hopefully google will do it’s job, I’ll just keep on creating valuable content and it will find the right people!

  1. These days I see the value in developing fantastic content, as well as building online and offline relationships to help with marketing. The more people searching for you after a conversation you’ve had about a topic – the better. Rather than say, here’s the link to my content – ask them to Google “brand name + topic”. It gives Google a signal that people are searching for you in relation to that topic.
