Getting your website listed in the major search engines is an absolute necessity. Why? Because 85% of all people on the Internet use them when searching for information. When they type the keyword or keyword phrase in a major search engine, up pops your website, or at least you hope so!
Even with social media rapidly rivalling search engines as the most popular search method for your particular services, you can reach your target market through either platforms using these strategies.
One of the easiest ways to get listed in any of the major search engines is getting links from other related sites that point to your site. The theory being once you get your website listed in one major search engine or directory, your site will soon appear in the others. But how do you get these back links? The best way to get noticed by other websites that rank well, is by providing great information and content. This is known as content marketing.
Although it's not the quickest means of increasing exposure, it is a sure-fire way to build credibility and be shared around social media circles by a target market is who seeking out this type of information. We live in an age where people are demanding more and more knowledge, so why not give them what they want!
The trick is you must keep it fresh, interesting, original and key word rich, so that it will excite Google because of its regularity, and stay relevant to your target market. You can do this by writing articles, updating your blog posts, keeping your general text pages up to date with up to the minute information, having an events and media page, and sharing video marketing on your website.
The more social media streams that you have back-linking to your site the better. Every time you update your pages, promote it through your preferred social media channels, create a short video speaking about the content, and post it on your YouTube channel. (Which is consequently the second highest search engine - so the value of posting video content is very high.)
You can also send out a regular e-newsletter to your database letting them know about the fresh, new information on your website. You can encourage your clients to share your content and information on their social media platforms. Make it as easy as possible for people to share your message to get maximum effect.
Above all, keep your copy relevant and ever-changing for your target market, as the quality of what you are saying will make or break your lead generation strategies on your website.
Essentials of great copy include;
- Strong calls to action
- Descriptive language that influences the prospect to buy
- Credibility factors that influence them to choose you over your competitor
- Drives them to ‘act’ in the moment and opt-in immediately
The best test of any copy is to send out a campaign to just a segment of your database. If you do not get a result within a couple of hours – it hasn’t been successful. If you get an immediate response, you’re on the right track.
Most importantly, the more activity on your website and the social media channels supporting it, the higher in value Google will rank you and before you know it, you will be steadily growing in the search engine rankings without having to pay out large sums of precious marketing dollars to others to do your SEO.
